We wish to present information in connection with shipping conditions having an impact on cargo moving to and from Hong Kong and China in general. The manufacturing sector is gradually resuming across China as the country’s most celebrated holiday, Lunar New Year, ends. The busy factories in diversified industries are expected to have their export shipments in full production around the end of the month. As you may be aware, the conflict in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait near Yemen is paralyzing and escalating the current security for ships. Many ocean carriers have opted for the longer route around the Cape of Good Hope but they are still struggling with congested ports and shortages in vessels and containers. In addition, the freight cost has increased to a high level due to the lengthened route and decreased capacity. Further increment is expected when the China export recovers. For more up-to-date offers & current sailing schedules, all GTO Members and GTO Agents are invited to check with us with your questions. The rates may not be held or be valid for long periods as ocean carriers are constantly adjusting rates for each vessel sailing. However, perhaps it may be more realistic and current when compared with the contract rates filed in advance at destinations.
